Of course the buzz is all about the faux granite kits. All of the counters i m talking about are all in the great room area. It wasn t original but was upgraded in the early 90s by a flipper and had the ubiquitous black granite counters brown wood cabinets and ugly builder grade tile. But children often outgrow that decor as they reach their teenage years which means that it s time to cover the chalkboard with a more attractive color of paint.

Unfortunately you can t simply apply an ordinary paint over your chalkboard surface. Chalk paint is amazing. Chalkboard paint provides a clever design touch to your kitchen family room or the kids rooms. The first thing i did in this space was paint the cabinets black using amy howard chalk paint in black and replaced the dated hardware.

Plus it dries fast faster so you re done with the total task quickly. I wasn t apposed to going that route but what i really wanted to do is paint them with annie sloan chalk paint. I searched the internet to see if anyone had tried this but i wasn t able to find anything. After painting my cabinets i started thinking about painting my counter tops.

Not to be confused with chalkboard paint. As marble tends to be shiny annie recommends starting with a thin coat of chalk paint. We used to wholesale for bb frosch which is a chalk paint powder. Annie sloan created the concoction making it thicker which requires less layers so you can paint faster.
